The Search for linux.conf.au 2010 Begins
As the Call For Participation closes for linux.conf.au 2009, the search for the host city for 2010 has begun.
Stewart Smith, Linux Australia president has called for submissions via a post on the Linux Australia web site.
"With linux.conf.au 2009 in Hobart rapidly approaching, believe it or not but it's time to look at where 2010 will be."
Smith and the Linux Australia Council have continued the policy adopted in recent years of annointing the next hosting city before the current conference has been held.
"t's a lot of work to put on a linux.conf.au (just ask anybody who's done it) and it's in common agreement that it takes "more than a year", which is why we're talking about 2010 now."
With the next linux.conf.au being hosted by Hobart, there have been unofficial expressions of interest for 2010 from a number of different cities, both within Australia and without. The official bidding process opened up on the 1st August and will end on the 19th September. However while the teams themselves will be notified, the winning city will not be announced to the general public until the end of linux.conf.au 09.
Smith concluded his post by urging teams that were considering bidding to ensure they were able to meet all the criteria and he wished all who bid "happy bidding".
